My initial impression is that it is a PWPT - a post-war- put-together. The liner looks typical of early enlisted issue visor caps. It's not easy to tell from the photos but the bill looks new - not typical of most crushers that show crazing and heat damage. The insignia looks new, too. Do you see any holes where a leather chinstrap might have been attached?

That's my impression as well, a PWPT.

Ben you guys are spot on. Look at the way the cocade is stitched on and the irregular width of the cloth below the green capband underneath the cocade. Visor no good as well. Jacques

Hi Guys, Thanx for the comments.

Haven't got it in hand so can't answer on the button holes for the chin strap but concure on the newness of the visor & cockade. Jacques can you clarify what you mean about the wreath stiching & the irregular width thing?

                      Thanx in advance. Rick C.

Normally the field grey cloth below the green cap band and the visor or bottom edge of the cap is consistenly of the same width all round the cap. The way the cocade is stitch to the capband is not standard. Jacques
