    Heer Officers M42 Field Cap

    Gent's

For you soft headgear guy's here is a rather rare cap that came in recently.

Upgraded to officer from an issue M42 field cap.The insignia is straight machine sewn across the top of the eagles wing, flipped over and the rest sewn by hand. The 2 front buttons are original to the cap,it is well marked with the manufacturers stamp, size and the 42 date.

A tough piece of officer headgear to find..

The insignias machine stitching extends beyond the eagles wing, marked with the red arrow.

Nice and rare cap- i have a tailor made cap (similar to the officer overseas cap) out of a estate of KIA Officer from Hamburg.

            Regards

            Heinrich

I am not questioning the originality of this hat. Having looked over the images, one has to wonder why some officer would go to all the trouble of having the silver crown piping added but then not add silver buttons to further advertise the fact he was an officer. Strange things happened in the TR.

Personnal preference I suppose or perhaps to be less visible in the field. I have seen these caps with Zeltbahn buttons originally applied as well.

                      Thanks for the comments everyone.

as a general rule I am not into officer pieces but this cap is cool lookin'. I like the buttons actually as far as a "field look" and I love all "T" eagle patches and hey, why not throw in the makers marks... NICE . the more markings on a piece the more I dig it. another cool addition to your collection Glenn. Glenn
