Gentleman, i am in need of your opinions. I recently picked up a luft tropical cap from a guy in my hometown area. I have some concerns with the cap and have a money back guarantee on it. I will need someone to post pics of the cap as i still havn't figured out how to do it on here. So someone please pm me and i will send them the pics.
The cap itself is a typical tropical m43 style but it has several areas of concern for me. First off you can see the outline of where a heer eagle was sewn through the liner at one point on the inside of the cap, there is no trace of it on the outside as the luft eagle covers it. Secondly there is no makers mark or rbn # only a 58 for size and a 1942 date. Also the size and date are still nice and completely legiable while the liner is a pink or salmon color. I would normally expect to see the stamping faded equally to the liner. Thirdly if it was a heer tropical cap it should show the typical sewing lines of a heer cap and it doesn't. It lacks the two lines of stitching up the back of the cap, it only has one. There is also no stiching under the bill of the cap, i know this was typically done on heer caps, usually two lines were stiched though some only have one to attach the cloth to the cardboard bill. My last area of concern is that there is what appears to me to be a leather band sewn in side of the cloth around the entire cap. It is broken in many areas and is still slightly flexiable. I could see that this would be a possibility, kinda like a sweat band, but why would it be sewn inside of the material?? The insignia is also nicely hand sewn to the front, i see no problems with the insignia just the construction overall makes me question the cap. If anyone else has pics of their luft tropical caps i would love to see them, and i hope someone will post the pics of mine. All opinions are welcomed, and don't be afraid to be brutely honest as i need to know with this cap. I eagerly await your opinions. Matt
