The grommets I've seen for the tropicals tend to have very subtle prongs with (often) inverted washers (see photo below).

Nonetheless, I think you've found a good solid comparison of your example with the one from Figueroa's book.

I agree the waste majority of grommets on tropical caps are like the one you showed.I think member Ralph Heinz posted a good article about grommets a while back. I need to see if I can find it. Pretty interesting.WR Jim
