A certification of authenticity (to the extent possible w/o a hands-on inspection) from one of the forum's well known "Guru of Visor Hats" would put alot of people at ease on this hat (Donald, Mr. Kane, where art thou?), as I am cautious by the pics of the front. The insignia appears misaligned with the center seam, and if the center seam is off center from the cap as a whole, there may be a problem. If my eyes discieve me, then this is a lovely conditioned hat.

This cap seems alright to me. The holes in the back of the sweat band might have been from the price tag, in fact. Or the size tag, as well. Luftwaffe officer caps are very attractive regalia. I have always had a weak spot for them, in fact. I sold a wonderful one from about 1936 via Bruce Herman. It had a marvelous patent leather peak and silver content wire to the Reichskokarde and the famous downward tail of the Reichsadler mit Hakenkreuz....alles weg! If this cap is only USD600, then it is very cheap, indeed.

That hat should sell in less than a day for $600. Luft officer visors are must have for hat collectors. If I didn't already have one, I would buy it in a second for that price.
