    Postwar Luft General's visor

I know this is a West German visor (I assume generals because of the gold) and not TR but I thought someone here might know about postwar hats. Why is it not blue? Does anyone know the date of issue of this hat?

I think it is Austrian? Wien (Vienna) maker mark and red and white cockade. Apart from that:

      Cheers, Ade.

Dennis, I cant answer your question, but can add another. I have a visor with the same maker mark. No insignia. The only difference I can see in maker mark is mine is in green writing. I thought that mine was a firepolice when I got it on line, but it is definately black with red piping and is not Third Reich. This maker did make Third Reich police visors, as a member of this forum has some. I dont want to mention his name without permission. I would like to know more about my visor also, as I cant find much on this maker. I think you have a very early visor though. I like it.

              Bundesheer

The top cap is that of a company grade air force officer in the Austrian Bundesheer as worn today, in fact---or as early as the 1970s. The rank is visible on the cap, as was the case in the beloved K. u. K. period. The Austrian forces have grey-green uniforms throughout. They also retain nice Stickerei and Borten of the traditional pattern. You can look in google under Bundesheer/Uniformen to see the variety of uniforms. The second cap is an Austrian police cap of somewhat older make, or a Gendarmerie (rural police...now vanished...) cap, I believe. The latter style is also obsolete, as I think the Austrian police is in the process of Europeanizing their uniforms as are the German Bundespolizei, which was the Bundesgrenzschutz. Austrian air force caps are rare, actually. Sapere aude. Maybe an Austrian viewer of these pages can set us straight, though.
