    LW white officer's hat

I would like to get the opinion's of the headgear experts on this one from one of our sponsor's. I have no reason to doubt it and one of our members has already told me it looks good to him.

I am not a hat expert (I'm a badge man) so I am only asking because I don't know any better and just want to make doubly sure. I did one big search but there were not many of these to be found.

    Many thanks, Alan

I did find this picture in my search from RoyA of a LW hat with the same maker but different style label. Since badge makers and designs changed throughout the course of the war I don't see why tailor labels couldn't change as well.

If this picture is a problem I will remove it.

        Lieferanten

The top cap strikes me as authentic as does the bottom. They were made by two different firms and sold via one outlet. The caps were both retailed through the clothing sales/coop of the Luftwaffe, HQ (Verkaufsabteilung d. Lw). It was the parallel organization to the Kleiderkasse d. Heeres. See Wilkins on this score. The old Verkaufsbteilung d. Lw was in the Vossstrasse, but got moved when the neue Reichskanzlei was built and then this organization moved to the Puttkammerstrasse. The Air Ministry was around the corner on the intersection of Wilhelmstrasse/Leipzigerstrasse---it still is, in fact--one of the few structures in this neighborhood to have survived the ravages of the 20th century. The top cap is a Clemens Wagner (Erstklassig), the bottom cap is a Christian Haug, a Berlin cap maker, and also a maker of many Lw. caps, to boot. The Ce Ha mark is like the Erel, in that it is a send up of the abbreviation---this was a fad in Germany of the early 20th century, with a plethora of abbreviations and accronyms. The past is a riddle. Happy hatting.

          Hi Alan,

can you provide a full pic from the inside, a pic of how the sweatband is stitched to the cap and a shot with the sweastband lifted?

          Regards,
