            Hello Steve,
Visor caps are most often extremely difficult to judge with certainty without a personal examination. That's why I had been holding back on giving a quick opinion, but here's some thoughts for your consideration...
            1) The first overall photo looks very good to me.
            2) I've not personally seen that maker but that doesn't mean much as there were lots of little-known makers. Make certain the sweatshield is celluloid (very stiff, almost brittle) as opposed to plastic (very soft and pliable).
            3) What is the front visor made of? Visors are most commonly constructed of "Vulkanfiber". The underside would typically be tan colored and be in a "checkered" fashion. Occasionally you will find Heer Schirrmutze visors made of very stiff thick black leather, which are referred to as "semi-crushers".
            4) The bullion eagle doesn't look too well defined, but that's actually very common on these visors, so I wouldn't let that throw up a red flag....check to see any of the insignia is sewn through the lining.
            5) I love the little strip of cloth between the sweatband and the visor. This is an indication of an "extra quality" private purchase schirrmutze, which would be consistent with the bullion insignia. Those little strips are often made from a velvety material.
            6) Have you done the black light and burn tests?
I believe that if you satisfy yourself on the above points, then you have a very nice example.
Hope this is of some help.
            Best Regards,
            Roy

              Hi Steve,
              One other thought....
If you burn test any threads, be aware that it is common to find silk or artificial silk thread in these visor caps. This type of thread is most typically the thread that secures the sweatshield to lining.
At first glance, artificial silk will "appear" to burn into a little ball like synthetic thread. One big difference though...if it's synthetic, you have a hard plastic little ball. If it's artificial silk, the little ball can be crushed into a powder between your fingers....good to know.
              Cheers,
              Roy

                cavalry piped cap

                Steve,
Erwin Freudmann was a legitimate maker of military caps in wartime Germany. There are Uniformen-Markt advertisements which confirm this. I think the cap is probably original.
The bullion cockade seems somewhat lacking detail though. Does the cockade appear damaged or worn on close examination?

How does everyone feel about the placement of the eagle? It seems a tad low? I'm not a visor expert but just have a general knowledge so keep that in mind. The bullion does have a very "tired" and worn look compared to the rest of the visor but besides that I don't see anything that gives me a red flag, a better shot of the inside will tell more too...

At first sight the cap seems ok. Maybe a strabge question but how does the cap smell? If it's a visor from 60 years old it must smell old.

The eagle is 'handgestickt' and can be less detailed, although the placement is a bit low. The wreath is not in a very good conditio, but that can be fixed with a lower price. To compare I sent a picture of my infantery officer visor (with a aluminium eagle).

Thanks to all who took the time to comment and offer opinions on this item. You've provided me more questions to ask to the seller. I would agree with the general comments of the lack of detail on the wreath when compared with other makers.

Thanks again to all.any further comments would certainly be appreciated.
