These are very rare and for a specialized/advance collector. I personally know nothing about them but if it is from the same source as the helmets you posted I would be very concerned.

Hi, I can only echo Perry's comments about this cap. It is such a rare item very few people have not even seen one, let alone owned one, so it is very hard to comment on? I have seen two in 25 years of collecting, and I cannot vouch for them being original! Having said that, your does not raise any obvious red flags to me. The materials, etc, look good.
Not a lot of help I know, just my two pence worth!
            Cheers, Ade.

              Thank you Fellas

Yes I agree with you about rareity but I am 100% sure on this one. it came from a well known dealer in Germany it has been blessed by some of the better names in the business and it is a match to the one on page 104 105 of hayes book on SS goddies the diferenc is a slight variation in the sweat band and the Skull is a little Different but it is a Pre RZM piece so that would make sense.
              Thank you

                Jerry,
I don't want to rain on your parade but I would be extremely wary if it came from a dealer in Germany whose initials are HW. I have sent back an SS helmet to him and others I know have had similar experiences.

Also, the "kratschen" depicted in Hayes' book is considered to be a repro in many circles. In 1933, the SS was a very small organization...it is unlikely that these caps would have been so marked back then. Look at the early visor caps of the same period...they were not marked as such and standardized until about 1935/36. And these kratschen were on the way out (if not completely gone) in favour of the overseas caps by that time. Just my humble opinion.
