Belgian made Waffen SS visor

Some period pictures You will notice the Army style eagle being worn. For the lower ranks these visors were private purchase items and acquired in Belgium where army eagles were easier to obtain. The skulls are Belgium production by a company called "Nominette" in Aalst, Belgium

And in its finished condition. The Belgian made SS skull lined up perfectly with the holes in the cap band (with the wire prongs being on the vary outer edge).
The Walloon volunteer Untersturmfuhrer portrait (3rd image) motivated me to turn it into an officers cap. SS officers would usually get their caps in Germany when they were going thru the Fuhrerschule (officers school) and had an kleiderkasse allowance which is why officers caps are always textbook 100% German made "eigentumsstuck" (private purchase pieces). Enlisted men received their gear (no purchases) and during the war visors were usually not part of that (depending on duty) so Belgian volunteers sourced their needs locally while in Belgium if they wished to also have a visor for "best dress" occasions. 20200623_104043_resized.jpg 0C17B024-9321-45D6-B97A-2F4F397C469B.jpgLast edited by NickG; 08-17-2020, 12:54 PM.

The Belgian made skull with army eagle combination makes this Belgium made SS visor very typical for local production, as restored.
Hope you like it!

Getting that Belgium SS skull is just the iceing on the cake that SS hat needed. Did the prongs fit exactly through the original holes and not break when you put the skull on the hat ?
