    SS m43 field cap repaired

    Can I please get opinions on these limited photos sent to me. Trap has been resewn through the cap at what point??? Interior repairs but is the trap a good one and the cap legit so perhaps the components are okay?     The trapezoid seems to be an original and the cap might have a chance but the photos are terrible.

        I feel your pain, crap photos are a pet peeve of mine especially when they come from a seller of an item I'm interested in buying.

                Howard, as you said all original components. The key photo will be a good close-up on the inside stitching on the trap. The answer to how long it's been there will be told by the amount of sweat on the threads of that trap - that much interior liner wear and sweat discoloration should be apparent on the lower part of the trap too.

                  Robert, that's a great assessment. Here is a pic of the interior. We already know it was replaced but likely after a lot of the wear happened I assume. ss 43 cap 4.png

                    Original heer m-43 with period original wss trap sewn through liner, most likely replaced post war. My opinion!

                      From that photo, I agree the trap is very likely added after the war. At least the previous owner didn't try to rip into that nicely worn liner to hide his work!
