Luftwaffe Ground Crew Overseas Cap

Hello all,

I know that these are not in any sense rare, but I would like to share some images of this cap that came my way recently. Though not well versed in cloth headgear, from what I can see, this appears to be a correct example stripped of it's insignia. It is difficult to get a good picture, but there is a clear shadow outlining the missing eagle. What has me a bit puzzled is the overall shape of the cap. It is a very small size and puts me in mind of the garrison caps usually issued to female auxiliary personnel. Any thoughts on this one would be appreciated.

Thank you for the reply and link. I believe I may have looked at that thread among others when digging around regarding this cap at first.

The material and construction seems the same as the one in the link you posted. But as I said, the overall shape is off. Any thoughts on that? If not a mechanic/ground crew cap, I’m wondering perhaps if this might have been for one of the female helpers/staff who worked in administrative posts.

If you stare at it too long you might start to see imagined problems. Size 53 is not uncommon as there is an EM flight visor currently being discussed that is also a small size. Just find an eagle for this one and relax. No Helferin wants to wear your cap!
