I think the original Erel lining was the real target. If it is really Arty, the may have sacrificed that for a more desirable Waffenfarbe (or ground-up fake).

The answer must be on the missing rubber strip that left an impression in the leather sweatband.

Sure - for us, it sure looks like a lot of work for a little return . . . but with the way things are going, even the "lowly" Arty caps may now be nearing worthy of such an effort.

The piping is red for artillery. Why would someone take the lining out of this Erel visor cap. It is in excellent condition. Most likely to restore a another Erel visor? What a shame.

If you know where to look, it's not difficult to find if the lining has been replaced.
