    Waffenfarbe rarity

Hello. I am a new member to this Forum. I have begun to collect Heer officer's visor caps and really enjoy the search. I currently have about 5 different piped caps and was wondering if there was any consensus on what the top 3 rarest waffenfarbe colors might be? Thanks too for the information on the proper care of covers listed in a previous thread in this section...

      Waffenfarbe rarity

Hi Mark and thanks for the reply. I currently have artillery, infantry, cavalry, panzer, and transport. The panzer officer's hat has what appears to be a serial number inked under the visor. I hate to ask a really naiive question, but would it be possible someway to ID this officer here on the Forum by the number?

          Hi All -

Panzer is desirable, but not necessarily rare - folks just tend to hoard them I would vote for:

          1. Chaplain
          2. Propaganda
          3. Honest-to-God General Staff (as opposed to Vet)

I agree with DonC, that is the order I would classify rare.

any orange piped are right up there, as well as well as Panzer Gren....

I have to agree w/ the Propaganda and Smoke troops, they have to be #1 & #2.

Maybe your list should be a top 5 or top ten...

                Don't Forget Copper Brown

                Hello, all!
For my two-cent's-worth, I'd have to add copper brown (not pre-war signals cinnamon brown, which is actually also quite rare) for armored recon personnel. I've never seen one, although the Panzermuseum in Munster has a beautiful parade-dress tunic for an officer piped in copper brown. I've considered jail time to get that one!
                Take care,

DOH! I didn't even think of copper! Good call, Bob. If anyone has a picture of that piped beauty in Münster, please post it!

I agree. Feldgendarmerie visors are pretty rare and priced next to crushers.

Here are some photos of the visors in my collection. I have to apologize for the mis-shpae of some of them. They were in storage and are a bit out of shape.

This is the interior of the Panzer visor previously listed. The next shot will show what I think is the Officer's name and serial number. Anyone heard of this officer?
