Panzer M42 Side caps

Here are some pictures of my Panzer M42 caps. I realize these are the least desirable among Panzer collectors but I still think they're cool. They are also rare when compared to the M43 and M38 caps because of their limited production time. I believe both are original examples but views to the contrary are welcome.

This first cap I got from George Peterson about 10-12 years ago. He just picked it up in russia and offered it to me. It came from a movie company and had been modified. Originally it sported a chinsey looking bill which I removed.There were also 2 holes off to the right of the original button holes, I suspect so it would fit a smaller head. Also the grommets were squirreled with and the insignia was removed.

This one I picked up last week.Its also made from a ribbed material but slightly finer. the front.

I'm glad to have them. You don't see them pop up too often. I can't ever remember seeing one while we were in Germany. Jim

I thought I would go ahead and move this back up to the top again. I didn't get much feedback when I originally put them up. We now have some new members with lots of experience in Panzer items.
Frankly it seems the majority of Panzer headgear/tunics seem to be getting the these days. Figured I'd go ahead and start reposting some of the items I've put up before for a second look. Maybe everything I own is fake and I can quit collecting .WR Jim
