    Erel crusher with vented cocade

I am looking for examples or period pictures of two extremely rare beasts,
    1) Erel crushers with a vented cocade
    2) Erel crushers in Waffen ss service ( please not the Pieman's hat)

Here is the only examples I could find, courtesy of Kurt and Chris.

Will be interesting to see what turns up . . .

If I had one, I would be happy to share. But you do realize there are many people out there who will not answer this call - and may actually have such an example? The fear of undue (and sometimes hostile!) negative criticism has already taken it's toll. Let's cross our fingers, and see what you get.

I think I looked at every thread on crushers on the WAF, but could only found the posted examples. No one came across or remember any of these, anywhere? J

To clarify the reason for this thread. I was looking at a lot of Erel crushers and the question was asked by JT about Kurt's transport crusher about the fact that he has never seen a vented cocade on an Erel crusher with the "rollover" structure used in Erel crushers and how it works. The question was never answered, so I am trying to find examples to answer that.

It does seem due to lack of examples that it was not a standard Erel factory option?

Maybe I can shed some light. The crusher pictured above just had a vented cockade added on top of the BeVo wreath. There was no ventilation system (i.e. grommet). I have personally never seen a "vented crusher"... neither Erel nor Frischluft.

I want to link what I have found and belief, to what was posted by Nick ( NTZ) about Erel some time ago. For those that does not know f Nick, he really studied Erels and visors and knew his stuff.

Nick's comment on a Erel ss crusher:
"I have to be honest, the cap might be ok with a hands on but I am not getting a warm feeling. Personally I am of the belief that Erel made two types of crusher caps. I have seen regular production caps with what I believe were leather visors added by Erel at the factor level and ones that were straight out crushers. The later had completely different construction and did not have a sweat diamond. The former generally had bullion insignia and are what we call crusher “type” visors. These visors were identical to regular visors only the visor was changed out. This one does not share the traits I am used to seeing. I might be wrong but to me I would tend to think this was a post war modified cap. Like I said, I could be wrong. Erel made very few crusher or crusher types. "

I will follow this up with pictures to explain the above and why the link to grommets, as the topic of this thread, is important. J

Here is Option 1 (crusher type) without the removed spring (so standard erel with leather peak)

Option 3 is an anomaly for me in terms of Nick's statement. It has the stirndruk system as in option 1, which was the standard for structure for schirmutze (base for crusher type, option 1) and not crushers. However it seems that they came from Erel as crushers ? (note none of them had a vented cocade with grommet).

My early opinion is that as crusher types became fashionable, the later war version (option 3) was produced, they also seems to always have trikot cap top fabric. J
