To Me..It appears that the Cap the Edelweiss and the Insignia all appear period manufactured..as to when they all came together...difficult to say..the eagle skull doesn’t appear factory applied..JMHO

I cannot; but I would suspect the hat to be an original Heer officer's with post war added SS insignia.

I agree,I owned one exactly the same with a Heer bevo trap machine sewn..Have seen a few others as well.

I took a picture a minute ago, showing the inside of the trapezoids moth hole.
The fabric there is way darker.
