Here is a picture of the original eagle that came with the cap but was removed, and damaged in the process, so a replacement was added.

Would love to have it in my collection, but its not up for sale, the story, behind the removal of the insignia, younger, collectors would find hard to comprehend, but back in the 1960s, it was mostly considered junk, and of little value. This is a 100% converted M42 panzer cap, converted to
M43.. hope you injoy. Regards Paul

Very nice example and a Very difficult hat to find. I have looked for one for many years!

The restored/replaced insignia would bother me little if all on this cap and given the quality of the restoration I think none would be most likely. Without a doubt the biggest mistake I made in collecting was all the passing up that I did 25-45 years ago on so many rare and fantastic tunics and caps with missing or resewn eagles and sometimes skulls. I attended therapy and got past it and for the last 20-25 years there has been little looking back!

Hindsite will be 20/20 for alot of us, 25-45 yrs makes alot of difference because the hobby has since capitulated into a wretched cesspool.

Gosh, what a great statement. If I write a book on some aspect of collecting I would like for you to write the forward.
