Hello everyone, I hope you're all well. I've had this cap for a while and have always pondered it's authenticity. It's a very pretty cap but is it original? The maker of this cap is Johannes Mutzenfabrik, which I know made visors post-WWII for the Bundeswehr. The insignia is original, yet replaced. When I purchased the cap it was missing the eagle and roundel. The lining is green silk, the cap band is brown, and the piping is medium green. The material of the cap feels like gabardine and is the correct police - green color. There are two ventilation grommets on each side of the visor. The bill is light yellow/creme colored on the underside, and shows wear and soiling. The sweatband is gray leather and a bit "salty" with several cracks and sweat stains. The maker diamond appears to be celluloid and bears the stylistic logo "JH" Johannes Mutzenfabrik LANGEN bei Frankfurt. If I wasn't confused enough .. there's a fake Police RZM tag pasted on the cap band behind the sweat shield. I would love to hear other's opinions because I frankly, am stumped by this visor. If it's a fake, I won't be too upset. I paid more for the insignia than the visor itself. Thanks in advance!
