LW mechanics cap

Hi Guys,

Please would you be so kind as to give me your thoughts on this one please?

The insignia is genuine but the cap is odd as it actually appears to be a very dark blue which would be KM. The cut has been altered slightly maybe to make it Luft style and the edge then sewn by hand. No marking inside and lining is artificial silk.

Could it be period done like this do you think?

Mechanics caps are usually in twill cotton, light weight and only have an eagle, no cockarde. It looks like a dyed black enlisted LW cap?
(black liner now...) or is it very dark blue KM ???but KM side caps usually have blue liners....looks dyed black to me...
Perhaps dyed for Panzer use (HG)? The cockarde btw is LW based on construction...

Definitely not a mechanic's cap

It looks like a bit modified firemen side cap without piping .
When ? postwar IMO and pimped up later with black LW badges .
