    Salty KM stripped tropical field cap

    What about this salty KM stripped tropical field cap with green liner?
    Vague maker marked...but E.42 date?? That's army...Erfurt depot 1942

      Not every but most every Army has the red or orange liner..I owned a salty army circa 42-43 with a green liner and full leather sweatband back in the 80s...Maybe this is another anomaly Army version...Billbert

        It’s impressive in some ways but my gut vibe is fake. I dont like the visor cut especially and can anyone post another F. Weissbach trop Navy cap? Sorry, not for me.

          Good eye Robt, Agreed it is marked F. Weissbach, so an established maker. I got it from a WAF member here on stand and active contributor here with a guarantee.
          It even came with a KN cap eagle albeit not a tropical pattern...
          If the maker is established I feel better about it. The Heer depot stamp on a KM green lined cap just made me wonder...
          Btw the visor bill is not as big as some of the photo angles make it appear...it made me wonder too after seeing the pictures... an optical illusion...That's all!

          Btw I recently bought tropical W-SS shorts with the inverted (pebbled) metal belt i hooks and the set was stamped "BA-W" (Kriegsmarine depot Wilhemshaven)

                It does not seem to match the WH tropical caps they made Nick,

                Have a read of this excellent thread and images that PaulW put together about his Weissbach billed M40 tropical;

                The stamp in your KM trop cap is quite different ???

                  One thing I notice on Weissbachs is how far down the side of the cap the turn up begins....practically as far down as the visor goes and in the case of this KM trop something that looks correct.... at least in my opinion. The scallop turn up generally speaking is typically 4” from the caps front center seam.

                      The cap is an original Weissbach, not sure about the insignia

                      How was the original insignia applied ? Looks like a zigzag eagle and straight stitch cockade ?
