you know, i have always asked myself, is it "post war" for a POW?? I mean for the POW, did the war really end in 1945 or did their war go on till their release..... i have always wondered what the word "postwar" meant to them.

in regards to the cap, interesting example, kinda cool if it was POW made.

With Postwar it means the POW didn't only wore what they had on their backs but were forced to find something else to wear after some months/years .
Such a low quality work is "typical" as they had for most of them no sewing machines available and did some quick work by hands .
The result had only to be wearable , not a fashionista cap !
Nothing to compare with a local made cap made by the WH company tailor if he was skilled enough ,or a civilian tailor , because they had a sewing machine available !

Clearly it is a late issue cap for flame thrower Panzer crews. It is missing the matching rubberized trapezoid insignia.

Yes why not .
You had 100 000's POW all over France for several years , to rebuilt the country .
700 000 or even more , as i remember ?
