    Bahnschutz Minister Direktor Visor

Does anyone know anything about the Bahnschutz Minister Direktor Visor posted on The Marshal's Baton?

This is not Bahnschutz, but Reichsbahn as introduced late war.
For years and years it is said Bahnschutz, but when you have seen the introduction then one knows better! It is known such cap was in the possession of Paul Sack.

This sort of emblems would have been discussed in volume 6 for the series "Headgear of Hitler's Germany", but maybe this volume will never be released. Included was a picture of use and wear (in blue).

This would have been the caption:And worn it was! Dr. Karl Remy, the Reichsbahnpräsident from Colonia wears the new cap. The photo is taken during the “Tag des Deutschen Eisenbahners” on December 7, 1944. Remy was granted the Ritterkreuz des Kriegsverdienstkreuzes mit Schwertern. The photo is a still from the “Ufa-Europawoche” from December 12, 1944.

They were in the same shade as a standard DRB cap--here is one that was in the old French headgear book (no idea whatever happened to it):

Just remembered that the blue one was stolen from the Phillipe G collection several years ago, so if anyone runs across it, let him know:

Yes, it was a pity this was part of the theft. The cap would have been shown upon the cover for the planned volume 6 of "Headgear of Hitler's Germany" (my proposal).
Due to the fact Roger has died, it is practically sure the planned volume will never be released by Bender publishing.

For years this cap was wrongly identified as Bahnschutz, but when one would have seen the letter from the Reichsbahn-Zentralamt für Sozial- und Personalwesen (21 Hb 12 Uskd)
from September 29, 1944 one would have known the true facts.
Plans for wearing were extensive, but just resulted in the supplying and wearing of those being a Reichsbahndirektionspräsident. Designs for the cap and its newly designed insignia
were send to the DRB-Kleiderkasse and Reichsverkehrsministerium. The color described was dark-blue. The eagle for the cap was meant also to be worn with the left upper arm.
The winged wheel for the cap band was phrased as Flügelradabzeichen.
The order included also a cap, known as Einheitsfeldmütze with upon the top front the new pattern eagle and a regular cockade beneath this. The cap was closed with two buttons.

The chance to find one is very small. There were not much of them manufactured. They exist as a set: eagle and Flügelradabzeichen.
They are unissued. There is no cockade positioned within the winged symbol.
