Only suspicious in this hat is condition. It is theater item. They being hard washed, kept for long in dusty places after used and washed again.
Insignia is textbook, materials are original as other details.

I remember in early 90s one guy in Belarus or Baltic catched a lot and was trying to wash off theater stampings, almost sure it’s one of them. Congrats.

The fact is that according to legend, this hat was bought in Norway. But a friend of mine who is sewing things for re-enactors today also told me that it might be if the cap is washed and then put back on.But to whom and how to prove it? So I decided to return it.The owner claims that he didn't do anything with it.the worst part is that I absolutely trust this man.

Can a person who has been collecting various things for more than 30 years be mistaken?

Although conventional ‘wisdom’ would equate time with knowledge, it is not necessarily true in this hobby (or much else in life).

You should have kept the f-ing hat then ! Now you’re coming off like you’ve got an ax to grind with the forums advice which you solicited.

              Robt.
