    Bluecher Bund Buckle

I just got this buckle. Has anybody seen this before and can give further information? The construction does not look german to me. Probably something for our specialists.

    Thank you very much!

Jens, maybe a long shot (no pun intended) but there was a Civil War-era German shooting association in the US called the Blucher Bund (these associations were popular civic organizations among German men in the US).

There was a Rudolph Stratemeyer listed in Co. D of the US 9th Ohio Regt. during the war who could have been a member.

The buckle is French style, which was popular in the era for military & paramilitary accoutrements.

Dave, thank you very much for the information!
So, what do you think, how old could this buckle be ? Due to the fact, that i only collect german related buckles, do you know anyone who could be interested in it? Would be glad to make someone else happy.

      many greetings

      sven

I think this is a plausible explantation, next would be to show it to a Civil war guy to see if this is posible....
