        Hello,

the Bahnschutz buckles were delivered without a tab !

The buckle is made by Assmann and the silver color is

        post war made ..........

Herrman Knoller never made Bahnschutz buckles !

          Thanks for your opinion .
It was found near Vichy , with some other German ( buckles and another reichsbahn leader buckle )and French stuff ( FFI)
Thé previous owner was not a collector he picked up as souvenir at the end of the war .
When he passed away 2 years ago his family put all stuff in the junk , and neighbors , took the stuff

The buckle is original and the tab also.
I have seen original (untouched since the war) SS buckles ( never delivered with a tab) with a tab from another maker.
And other regular army buckles with tabs from another factory.
It it rare but not uncommon to find buckles who had a tab wartime period replaced or added.
This one could be one such items. The rust under the leather and the stitches looks genuine.
I would like to see the sides, see if the prong-bar has been tempered with ?
As for the paint, try with thinner ... If the paint dissolves it is repainted. Original paint don't dissolve with thinner.
