    Officer buckle

I've read several conflicting opinions regarding the style buckles Heer Officers wore. I even recall seeing period images showing officers wearing a political style buckle. Can some one help confirm if officers wore this buckle?

I beleive there was a photo of a Heer Off wearing this exact style buckle in Brian Davis’s book “German Army Uniforms and Insignias 1933-45” but I’ll need to confirm again. Don’t have the book handly momentarily which is why I’m asking for the input

Can anyone help? Is this a style
claw belt buckle worn by Heer Officers or just political?

The are some differences in these double claw buckles. It is hard to tell the differences but I will check out the Assmann sales catalogue. It shows most of them. I have seen Heer Generals uniforms displayed with a Political Leaders belt with the gold buckle.

In Angolia's buckle book he basically says there no way of telling if a buckle is military, political or civilian. If it has a RZM it is political but otherwise it could be used by any of them. The width of the belt got narrower as the war went on.

Copy that! It is marked RZM, so I will not display on my heer lieutenant tunic.
Thank you again for checking into that.

The rounded corners are typical of two-claw buckles for party organizations of the NSDAP according to the execution defined by the RZM. In these organizations, they were also not exclusively worn by leaders, but also by enlisted men.
