    REPRO 2-piece Army Buckle?

This came to me with some other original items.

The issue is it feels much lighter in weight than others I own...and the leather is thinner.

This is the 2-piece aluminum type.

    Thoughts?

    TIA

A private purchase 4 tab dress buckle shouldn't be painted and shouldn't have a leather tab. I would say someone painted the buckle and added the tab. The tab and buckle both look original.

        Hey guys...

        Thanks for the info...

Is there a website that discusses these? I get very confused on the types of buckles...when tabs should should not the...the 2-piece aluminum vs. steel?

I am a bit under-educated in this area.

The dress buckles with the 4 tab attachment were private purchase buckles and were worn on lighter dress belts. Many of the belts will have cloth backing.

Lots of your regular Heer and Luftwaffe service buckles in aluminum and then steel had tabs till 42. They stopped using them to conserve leather. Same thing happened in WWI.
