Luftwaffe Belt and Buckle Set Opinions Please

    Hello,

Came across this Luftwaffe Belt and Buckle set. To me the set was put together. The buckle exhibits significant wear with the belt appearing almost new despite the water stain. I'd also appreciate any comments on the unit stamping. Just looks too new and perfectly done. It also appears that the belt was cut down to add the retention clip on the one end. If you look at the edge of the belt itself and this cut down area it would appear to be done at different time due to color difference.

    Regards,
    Tim

    Hello,

One final photo showing the difference in age between the belt and that of the buckle and tab. I'd be pretty nervous with that belt.

The belt is an RAD enlisted example. Their nice brown appearance is coveted by collectors who want a very noticeable brown belt and Luftwaffe belts are harder to come by. True LW belts have a tapered inner belt and are LBA marked

The RAD belt is very nice.
This is the way RAD soldiers got the leather belts, before they were blackened by them.
The belt is not coloured (in German "lohgar") wich means ooze? leather - treated with vegetable tanning agents.
In addition you have there a depot acceptance stamp and a nice RAD unit stamp.

Some interesting information Guido. I got this Postschutz marked belt at the SOS. It has the same color green paint on the catch as the RS&S aluminum Postschutz buckles. I assume it never got treated just like this RAD belt.

              Hello,

Thank you for the replies. I really appreciate the knowledge. Just wanted to double check my own thought process on the set being put together. Sounds like the belt would be a nice addition to a collection.

              Regards,
              Tim

Yes, think so, Kirby, that your belt was also made from ooze leather.
But against to WH and RAD, it seems that Postschutz personnel have not blackened their belts with black shoe cream or black ink. I do not know why, but I have also a worn but unblackened Postschutz belt in the collection.

Thanks for the info. My belt has some light wear but it is good to know there are others that have not been darkened.
