        Hello Stefan,

        what a beautiful set

I can only talk about the brocade. Dealers sell it for 170-250 €. Weitze sells the brocade for 245 € (Nr.15337 & 49619). But he has them since a long time.

I like the bocade, it is well made, but the number of collectors for forestry stuff is very limited!

Anyway, I've send you a PM. I'm interested in the brocade with box or maybe in the whole set. Let me know!

        Regards,
        Christian

I agree..that is a really nice set...if you had an SS set like that the cost would probably $ 10,000 or so. I think what you have is a one-of-a-kind set. The only negative that you have is that forestry items are not really that popular, but if you do find a collector of that he would love to have such a set. This set is tough to price...and I know it is a wide range, but I would value it anywhere from $ 600 to $ 1200 dollars...but again it is tough to place a value as this is probably one-of-a-kind.

JP...did this company make any brocades for the SS or SS associated items?

Of course it did!! Including Allgemeine SS brocades and SS Wasserschutzpolizei brocades (see article in the GDC Forum)! On the top the company is the only one I personnaly know to have maker marked (with company logo) its brocade production for the SS (or at least part of it).
Some of its brocades for the SS can be found with only his A4 # 167 remaining on the RZM/SS tax tag.

Hi JP..thank you for that information...it would be great to find an SS brocade in such a box!

It is also an interesting study in that the brocade companies bought the buckles and put together the final product and assembled it rather then say Assmann buying the brocade and assembling the product.

                      John,

I do not think we can set a "rule" right away since there is no indication the belt originally came with this buckle (or any other buckle). Maybe it did, maybe not. If I am not mistaking we have here a group of items belonging to a named owner (see blue tag) and not a set right away taken from the manufactory. I strongly believe the former owner just used the largest box to store all his items together, items he maybe wore several times. I am not sure J.F.Rieleder manufactured all the items (brocade, aiguillette and shoulder boards).
The roller attached to the leather tongue is obviously also an Assmann's, but one possibility could be the belt sold without buckle leaving the purchaser full liability to choose his own. Putting the buckle on the belt will require just few skilled stitches after all.
But indeed at least this idea is strongly supported by the fact the box is not Assmann labeled (buckle maker labeled) but J.F.Rieleder labeled (belt maker labeled).
Which is, as you and I agree, an excellent new information!

                          Hello Sefan,

Very nice set but unfortunately from a les demanded branches.

A Forst brocade and buckle like this in mint condition is hard to sell for more than 150 / 200$. Dealers will "ask" more but will stay married with them until they are able to put together a nice "set" like yours.

                          So what is the value…?

                          Brocade and buckle…150$ / 200$

                          Shoulder boards…….. 50 $ max

                          Silver aiguillettes…….50 $ ?

                          Forst aiguillettes……. 100 $ ?

                          Cut of aiguillette……….0

                          Total…………………between 350 / 400 $

The box?? I bought a few of these empty boxes from the same maker at Manions over the years (Marked on the side for LW, WH, and SS! brocades) for an average of 100$ plus cost each.

I sold a set as this one but from a LW officer for 500$ two years ago (box from the same maker as yours, brocade, buckle, aiguillettes, shoulder boards,) all items had a paper tag with string on with the name of the owner (a paratrooper))

I would say your set is worth 500$ / 600$ if you have the guy who collect Forst / brocades or who likes sets who belong all to the same person.

PS: As clearly marked on the side of the box, these boxes where originally given with the brocade only!! The buckle was added by the officer owner or at the shop where the owner bought all his items. Therefore it is normal that the buckle is from Assmann and the brocade from JFR.

Nevertheless, I have seen a set of buckle and brocade made by JFR, it was a RLB first model officer buckle and both buckle and belt had the tag with the JFR logo. I believe it used to belong to Bill X.

                          Marc
