Heer buckle and gmk 42 belt

I recently bought this Heer belt buckle with a belt marked gmk 42 and since it's my first belt I would like to get your opinions on it. According to a fellow collector the belt looks like it could have been converted from an officer belt to a enlisted/NCO belt.

It is obvious the belt has been converted. The catch is the type used on web belts. It was probable a period conversion. I have owned lots of belts that have been shorted in different way.

Thank you for your input, klr. Does both the belt and buckle appear to be original?

Looks good in my opinion. Any markings?
