SS 36/37 buckle for review - assistance needed urgently!

    Hello all,

I purchased an SS buckle in good faith from a dealer that I've known for a while. It was this buckle:

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=959438

I am a rank novice with these, and did something I don't normally do, which is "buy first, ask questions later". Not a good practice, I know!

That said, I brought the buckle home and starting looking at the fakes gallery, and lo and behold, she doesn't look good. I started the above thread and my suspicions were confirmed.

Fast forwarding, I contacted the dealer and he was very apologetic. I don't think he tried to deceive me, and offered immediately to make things right. He offered me my money back or the below pictured buckle.

I notice that the runes have the single ring around them (desirable from makers it seems), but I want to make sure that this one is legit before doing the swap.

Wisdom here is most greatly appreciated!

Heavily worn but original - tough to find buckle.

Bad pics but IMO is another cast fake Overhoff buckle
All RZM 36/37 buckles have runes with single ring
      Got the money

        Ok, so far:

1 vote yes. 1 vote no. Do the cast ones weigh less/more than the originals?

I did notice that the wreath detailing is nearly gone. Not sure what could have caused that much wear, unless the buckle was made out of a very soft metal.

Hard to say with these photos. Weren’t originals around 64mm wide and fakes 1-2 mm smaller?

You are correct Kirby but this buckle is heavily worn so I am not sure if proper dimensions would adhere. If he can measure then go for it.

Better pics would help but I still stand by my word as this being a worn original; at least from pics provided.

Ok, 2 votes yes. 1 vote no. Is there an difference in weight between the cast and original buckles, or are they both the same? I really want to be sure on this one, as I don't want to end up returning two buckles to the same seller.

Heavy wear but still a really attractive original buckle.
