SS 36/40 aluminum buckle - A good one or another cast fake?

Hey all,

I did some looking in the fake buckles sticky and found that this particular buckle is widely faked. I also saw a thread where the same buckle was considered real, so I'm a bit confused on what differentiates a good one from a fake. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! I bought it in good faith with a guarantee so I'd like to know sooner than later.

Does anyone have a link or pictures of a real version of this particular buckle? I only ask as nearly every one I found was deemed to be fake. The only one I found that was deemed to be legit was a ground-dug piece which was obviously hard to compare to. I assume there must be real ones?

Thank you for posting this. I apologize for being a rank novice here, but apart from the color, what am I missing as far as differences between the two buckles? I'm sure there are tells, but I have no idea what to look for. To my untrained eye, they look the same.

Not contesting the verdict on my buckle, but rather just trying to learn.
