SS Buckle - fake or unmarked late war?

I've had this belt since the mid-80s, since I bought it from a mail-order dealer in the UK. As someone more used to Heer buckles, it always looked odd to me. Having looked at a number of buckles recently, I'm coming around to the idea that it could be a late war, unmarked Oberhoff. Or it could be a fake!

    What are your thoughts?

    Thanks in advance,
    Michael

It came with a 1939 leather belt marked with non-Germanic stamps.

Original Overhoff buckle, also the belt is good but I don't know this "Greif" marking

Thanks! The stamp puzzles me too, particularly as it's on the front of the belt - at the far end from the hook.

          Regards,
          Michael

I would vote for a Czech belt reissued to german soldiers.

The marking looks like a dutch lion. Perhaps a belt for the Roemenian army?

Dutch or Czech are both good suggestions - I'll see if a closer inspection reveals a crown used with the Czech lion.

                    Thanks,
                    Michael

If 39 marking is a german added date, then I tend to exclude it's a Dutch lion because the main Dutch forces surrended in 14 May 1940.

I agree, I think it's most likely the H39 is German, following on from a Czech 1938 date.

And here's the belt's version... Your guess is as good as mine!
