Odd markings on a belt, any help is appreciated!!

The unit markings are for 6 Kompanie/Infanterie Regiment 68. I think the 'I' is for the regiment's 1st Bataillon. You've also got the length, 95cm, and a maker's name from 193(8?).

The unit marking is something like 6th Infantry Battalion 68th Company equipment group I. The mark by the catch is the manufacturer of the belt. Not sure what the B is for.

A further check on Lexikon-der-Wehrmacht screws up my I Bataillon theory, but 6 Kompanie/Infanterie Regiment 68 is pretty definite. The Germans used the 'J' as a capital I in such cases.

Thanks guys iv never seen another belt marked like this before, usually I see crude scratchings into the belt, was markings like this common?

This type of stamping is usual when belts are unit marked, but most don't have this level of detail. So not rare, but a nice find.

Kirby is totally right here when stating the backwards stamped I stands for the equipment group.
A bataillon can be realized when you'll find the roman number in front of the unit, for instance I./ J.R. 68 (1. Bataillon Infanterie Regiment 68).

BTW nice belt. The hook and year of manufacturing shows that the belt was intended for wearing with a nickle silver Reichswehr buckle. The stamped letter B stands IMO for the Bekleidungsamt Berlin. Later (around 1936/ 1937) when the new units of the Wehrmacht were formed the regemental stamping was added.
