Posting those measurements just helps for older fakes, mostly made before 2005! Many years ago this was alright but not anymore. Proper markings (notches) on prongs also have been updated since years.

Hello Jean,
Do not understand your comment and the point that you are making? So are you saying this is a fake original?

My words were rather simple.... If you are expecting someone can give you a correct answer based on measurements you provided, you are wrong. Whoever still uses such measurements to authenticate a current fake production is just dead wrong. Those measurements were ok for older fake production. But just for older fake production or cheap new one, but absolutely not for any good fake production produced after 2005.
The same applies to posts #18 & 21.
In other words, the only answers you should rely are those:
"Something I like it, something I don't (Ric)" , "Was this buckle cleaned?
Not the surface I would expect to see..(Joda) and "I am not 100% sure but perhaps the rough zones of the buckle are caused by the years of burial....(Ivanjoaquin)"
You will never know for sure if this buckle was really found ground dug, or why a ground dug could still be in this condition. I will never say publicaly how to properly spot current fake production (who does that would be just a fool) and since I do not know you personnaly, I will not be able to assist you either by private message.
So, at that point it is very simple: either you have a true ground dug, either you have a fairly recent fake (made roughly within the last ten years). Pictures will not help, post #30 measuremnts neither.Jean Pierre Redeuilh

Hello Jean,
Please forgive me I was not trying to offend you! All I was trying to find out where you stand in your opinion.
Is there any photos out there of these top quality 882/38 reproductions to compare this buckle to? I am not an SS Belt Buckle collector and I am trying to learn.
Regards,
Drew

Hello Jean,
I took some more photos and hope this will help with the details of the buckle. You can see the corrosion on the buckle from years being buried.
