Hi Adrian,
I'm not sure who the maker is on your friend's buckle, but I also have a Heer Buckle with a maker mark below the roller pin assembly that as of today still remains unidentified. I'll post a picture of mine again for comparision and to see if either of us has any luck.

Sorry Ade & Steve, I saw this marking now a few times, always on buckles without tab. The maker is unknown...
