SS officers belt buckle, 36/40 OLC -help identifying!

    Hi all,

Picked this up yesterday with a small Canadian collection including captured items- the collection included a Nazi flag signed by many Canadian soldiers in July 1944, as well as personal badges and effects from the Veteran (Cameron Highlanders of Canada.) The belt buckle is maker marked "RZM SS 36/40 OLC" on the reverse, and appears to be in good condition. If anyone could give me an idea of what manufacturer 36/40 is, an estimate of value or what date this would have been produced I would be grateful! Interestingly, there was also a standard Heer buckle and luft buckle brought back by the veteran as well (and some cloth eagles) but no other SS items. Perhaps the flag was captured along with the buckle in Normandy!

    Cheers!

Congrats on your findings! The maker is Overhoff, (SS contract code "36"), and the "40" is for the year of the die's manufacture. I would estimate it's value at around $800.00 - $900.00, according to the typical prices that I see from time to time. This one has some honest wear, but it is certainly real and is still very desirable, imo.

    Just my thoughts,

    Chris

      Good original Buckle
Looks like it has seen a bit of front line action
with the weight it has been bearing
