Here is an item I am hoping to acquire, but need a few confirming details from those better-acquainted here on this Forum.
Thus far, I only have one photo of the buckle (as shown). Apparently it comes complete with a belt as brought back from WW2 as a souvenir. I will have a chance to examine both belt and buckle soon and am informing myself in the interim.
As I understand it, the design (emblem) is a standard one with slight variances (ie. with and without a ladder) and slightly different positioning of the motto/lettering. The design was also taken-up after WW2 by West German fire brigades, and there were steel and aluminum types.
The example shown does not have a ladder and appears to be of steel. I could find no examples on this Forum showing similar lettering placement. I wonder if these features are significant in any way or helpful in dating this buckle?
I also understand that there was only one Fire Brigade buckle during the Third Reich which bore a swastika, that being the State of Thueringen.
It would be appreciated if someone might be able to kindly confirm the period of this version, ie. Weimar (or earlier); Third Reich (or later)?
Thanks, in advance,
John
