                Thomas,

As Chad said, a buckle for a member of the fire brigade, Prussian province of Hannover. These buckles were introduced in Prussia for all ranks (not just officers) in 1934 and superseded by the black Feuerschutz-/Feuerlösch-Polizei police buckle in 1936. The other German states followed suit and they all have various provincial or city arms on them. Very collectible to my mind and a huge variety exists.

                Kind regards,

                Karl

                  Karl,

Thank you for your help. I thought it was an odd piece as there are no makers markings that I could see on the buckle, It came with the belt as well and I got in all places- Hannover.
