I have problems remembering what I have had for breakfast these days. Perhaps I should have said, a DRB which I think has previously been posted on the Forum.

Have you noticed the rather horrid stress fractures on the reverse of the Assmann (assume) DRB.

    Regards,

    David

Yes David, very nice buckle the #12. I loooove these catch fixations. I notice the stress marks, we still don’t know exactly how the process of attaching the catch was done, it was after the buckle was stamped that is sure and the “soldering” was probably applied under pressure rather than with a liquid metal.

As for the manufactures being Assmann… why does everyone continue to say this is an Assmann catch??? Assmann used this method, yes, but they where not the only ones! At least three other factories used this method. I know, as I have or have seen buckles ( HJ, RAD, LW, SS, …) with these catches with other markings on than Assmann!!!! Even with RZM seals on them!!!!!!

You may think that I am being a tad pedantic here.

I never for one moment stated or even suggested that this was an Assmann catch and I totally agree with you that this quite interesting design was not exclusive to F W A u S.

Instead, I said Assmann (assume) DRB.

Assumption due to the delicate creases or kinks to the claws, which is a strong indicator towards an Assmann made buckle.

            Regards,

            David
