Appears to be an original pre-1895 Prussian buckle.

On the pics it looks like the big pre 1895 version for me, too,, but only having 2 soldering spots I rather tend to post 1895, as the old ones had 4.

Pre M/95 buckles may have four, three or two solder spots. The buckle shown is a private-purchase version as evidenced by the catch. Could be a pre-1895 model or a M/95 with a smaller roundel, which is sometimes seen on private purchase models. Hard for me to tell from the pics. Looks totally original to me.

Thx Kurt, I didn´t know that the pre 1895 ones could have 2 soldering spots, too, always good to learn more.

To clarify what this buckle really is:

It is a Model 1895 Private Purchase Buckle. It was not an issue buckle, but an "extra" buckle that was privately purchased by the soldier.

The side edge of the pre-1895 buckles have an extra "step" or "cut-out" that distinguish them from the model 1895 and newer buckles.

              Best Regards,

              Alan

So, what does an issue prussian buckle suppose to look like? Should it be without a roundel, which means pressed? Should it be made of steel ? There are many of prussian brass buckles with roundel in the market, so all of them are "private" ones?
