    Luftwaffe belt and buckle opinion

Hello everyone, I am new here as I am seeking information regarding a Luftwaffe belt and buckle someone has for sale and I am interested in purchasing it. I looked through some of the stickies and I have some concerns regarding its authenticity. It is marked A&S with some other character in front. I noticed that there was a fake identified in one of the threads marked this way. What do you all say? I appreciate any info since I am new to German items. I've been collecting USGI for 15 years but I'm not well versed in German. This belt is for a P08 Luger bring back I have that has a story of being taken from a plane crash site. I'm certain of the Lugers authenticity as well as the holster i just need a belt and buckle.

The belt is postwar ( Bundeswehr ) and was narrowed on edges as postwar belt were a bit wider than wartime.

Got another one I am looking at, thought I might as well post it in this thread as opposed to making a new one. Opinions on this one? I don't see any markings on the buckle itself.

Buckle and belt are nice originals.
The reverse side shows the typical blurry surface on Dransfeld Aluminium buckles.

Thank you Guido! This is advertised as a dress buckle and belt. Is this the case? If so what makes it a dress buckle? Sorry for all the questions, I'm trying to learn a little.

No, both were provided by the Bekleidungsamt. See also stamp L.B.A.B. 40 on the belt wich means Luftwaffenbekleidungsamt Berlin 1940. Buckle is also the typical construction wich was used for service. You can recognize it by the die stamped - one piece - buckle and the leather tab (Lederwiderhalt).

Dress buckles and belts are totally different. The dress/ parade buckles are usually made of two pieces (roundel fixed with four tabs on the box) and without any leather tab. The belt is different by the hook and the leather quality. The flesh side is usually inside on a dress belt and the outside was often varnished. Service belts were made revers (flesh layer outside).

                Hope it helps!
