Converted (Russian) Heer Buckle with SS belt - Original?

    Hello all,

I have had this converted belt and buckle for some time now and thought I would post some pictures to see what your thoughts are with regards to any part of it being original.

The buckle has a pebbled exterior with a maker mark of what appears to be "B & N 37" and is missing one "prong" that seems to have broken off at some point. There is a hole that has been made in the center for the Russian star.

The belt Appears to have been brown but has been blackened at some point, I am guessing during the war. It appears that this is fading and some of the brown is showing through.

The inner tongue of the belt has been stamped with "SS" runes inside a circle and to the left of that, some sort of other marking enclosed within a circle that I can not make out.

The belt seems to have two letters scratched into it at different points. One appears to be an "S" or perhaps an "8" and the other seems to be an "R" but could be something else.

I am curious what parts, if any, are original and if anything looks suspicious about it.

Thank you all for your time and help,

    Brett

You need to post some photos. Most SS marked belts have been marked post war. German buckles with Russian insignia is something I started seeing on eBay about 10 years ago. I seldom ever saw this before eBay band the swastika.

          1. Original Berg & Nolte buckle from 1937 however damaged with the hole made for the Star.
          2. Belt is original and very used however stitching looks to good for the shape the belt is in so I will assume this is all new stitching. If you look at the photo showing the inside stitching near the end of sewn in catch you see several striations on the leather extending over the stitching but no issues with the thread.
          3. Stamp is unknown as I can't see numbers but I am guessing it was added post-war as buckle is Heer - not SS.

I also believe the SS stamp was added since I do not have any record about "pebbled" leather ever been approved for SS belts. Then, with SS runes so clear, you should expect to see the full contract number as clear as those.
