    A boat load of buckles...

I've been going through TR items bought in the 50's to early 70's or so by ago by a collector who hit all the gun shows in the Midwest back then. His gun collection is outstanding (matched SN plank stock artillery luger, etc) but a couple of SS items he left behind are bogus. There are also two SS daggers that may well turn out to be replicas.

He had some nice original WWII TR field gear, but I suspect his cigar box of buckles has a mix of real and repro. I have to say this is more variety than I've seen in one place.

Most are OK but from the photos provided - #s 6, 7 and 14 look bad

Some others could be questionable but need individual closer views of reverse.

Thanks. The chrome and brass ones were my first suspects as pretty much the only TR buckles I've had are aluminum/alloy.

Number 10 seems to be a repro too. It has RZM 822/38 on the back and the details are very soft and and worn. It looks like it was a poor casting from an original.

Are there any particulat red flags on the SS officer buckle, or is it bad all over?

            Thanks...

I can see what you mean: everything looks's worn and smooth and no sharpeness at all:

The SS runes in a diamond equals fake. The EM buckles is missing it ears. Look at a real one and you'll see the difference.

Steel Luftwaffe buckle (number 6.) looks like original - made by Herman Aurich.
                  For comparison:

They are close: it looks like traces of gray paint around the edges of the wreath, but there's no maker's mark on the back.

                        Hello,

IMO the buckle is a original steel one .

Only the chrome finish looks like made post war ........
