    west german buckle MM question!

ok not sure if this is the right forum to ask the question so if not please move to the right one!!
iv a west german buckle and belt and i only noticed today that it is maker marked but as i know NOTHING about buckles i was hoping one of you guys could help me out!
the maker mark is in a upside down triangle and in it has the letters JM then underneath these letters it has a O also beside the triangle is a 7/5 then 85 (i reckon the 85 is the year made!) i was thinking there was a good chance that this maker made buckles in the war so can anyone help me!! sorry for not being able to get any pics of the mark its just iv no camera!
    thanks again!

Standard issue is correct. These buckles are still very affordable (I got an Overhoff stamped buckle with tab for $3.50!)
Here's my question : with a unified Germany - do they still use these? I think it's safe to say that they don't use the DDR ones anymore (those tend to be a little more expensive to collect - but not much)

What buckles would the military be using now in Germany????

            Hello !

Yes, the buckle is still in use in Germany. But only with the "better" uniform. That's why most of them are in very good condition!

                Hi Paddywhack and all,

The buckle is for the parade dress (not for walking out dress). It was introduced in the early 60ies (1962 I think) and the silver version is for all army and air force ranks from Private to Colonel. A gold version is worn by all ranks of the Navy, and air force and army generals. Interesting that no special officer's buckle was ever introduced. Comes on a black leather belt, but the military police (Feldjäger) wear it on a whitle leather belt and cross-strap rig as part of their duty dress. The Wachbataillon also has white belts.

                Regards,

                Karl
