    Help with an SS Buckle

I am looking to purchase an SS Buckle and have been offered this one. It is steel with no markings with very little paint. I do not know much about buckles (except what I have learned here) but the detail of the eagle looks a little weak. That may be the picture but I am not sure. I would appreiciate it if you all would look at the pictures and give me some advice. If the buckle is good what would be a fair price based on its condition?

The buckle is not in very good condition. I would pass on this one.
One can buy a very nice unmarked SS buckle with lots of paint on for $200.
      What do you think JP?

Well, at least the buckle is good. Unmarked example made by Overhoof after 1943 following the 1942 pattern.
With a bit of chance you will be able to find burried under a coat of rust remains of marking by the catch as RZM 36/42 SS which could increase the value (both unmarked and marked are the same for this pattern but marked ones are scarcer), but I doubt it.
Regarding value, you are on your own since, from a collector point, very few will invest for unmarked pieces in this condition.
As said Marc, unmarked SS EM steel buckles are the cheapest on the market, and you will have no problem to find a better example for less than $200.

Thanks for the answer. Are you saying the buckle is good just well worn? I am not looking for a really nice buckle. My intrest is in Army badges but I would like to have an SS buckle. Thanks again for the help.

My last message crossed paths with yours. Thanks for the information I will save these pictures for future reference and hope to come across a better buckle.

            Thanks
