The paint looks way better in the second set of photos. Natural light is always best. Buckle is original.

You are certainly correct. An Aurich tropical buckle is pretty rare and all seem to be later (post 1942) and I have yet to have seen one with a tab. Mine came as a mint unissued set with the belt and the belt keeper in the exact same color as the buckle. The buckle is near the color of the N&H but not quite as tan. Not as green as the HA ones either. And the prong assembly is always painted in the color of the buckle, unlike those with tabs (which tend to be unpainted).

The one in question is original IMO.

                    Guys,

May I know, according to you, what are the 3 points I underlined with red lines?

This is obviously an original buckle, but my wonder is about green finishing.

With natural light it looks better, but I cannot find good explanations about these 3 areas.

(Sorry Roby for using your pict, but it is the only way to explain my doubts.. )

                      Hello,
I didn't want to reply and let the forum members give their opinions but sorry, there are feelings, arguments, evidences, .... but a quick search on the forum shows some nice buckles with bumps, paint mistakes, scratches around the catch (often made because the welding), "blue" spots (which are actually black)......
                      Even some of this thread.....

                      I will only say that:
                      1. A naked steel is shiny except if it was exposed to O2 since a long time (so it becomes darker, as on my buckle).
                      2. To paint something with a brush will show brush marks impossible to hide.
                      3. To paint something with an aerosol will show the first paint in relief.

Finally, I sent a message 2 days ago to FG43 to let him know that if he doesn't like the buckle, he could only send it to me back...I have never obliged someone to keep something he doesn't like.

Of course, I could be wrong and the buckle may be repainted but if so, it's the last tropical buckle that I buy - and of course sell.

                        Hi,
These new pictures taken outdoors with natural light are to make the most of the green color of the buckle.

About the three points highlighted by joda:

                        N. 1 is a remnant of electric welded brass wire of the same type used to fix the buckle bridge, perhaps a casting.

                        N. 2 and 3 are bubbles of paint and air.

                        kind regards
                        Roby

                            Hi Roby,
About n.1: yes, might be the welding remnants. Not casting surely.
about n.2: Exactly. I think too they are bubbles of paint. This is one of the points that let me feel skeptical about the green finishing.

Anyway, as already stated, this is an original buckle.
If it turns that I'm wrong about the paint, happy this is 100% ok
