GAU ESSEN balt and buckle - Real or Fake?

    Hello,
I am a dagger guy, I don't know much about belts and buckles.
I need your help in an GAU ESSEN item. I know there are tons of fakes on the market.
What about this one: is it real or fake?

    Thank you for your help!

    Best regards,

You'll have to post pictures of the inside of the buckle (off the belt) with closeups of the prongs and belt hook keeper... and better straight on closeup of the front.

Looks promising... but without better pictures I wouldn't want to judge....
Certainly not the typical reproduction. Belt means little unless "Gau Essen" marked too... valuewise... and doesn't help establish originality.

No further images are needed. This buckle is a well known reproduction made from steel. Originals are always from nickle silver.

A belt marked "Gau Essen"? What a nonsense! It is no secret that the Gau Essen buckle was never in wear - it is a prototype!

It looked possibly like a painted aged nickle one to me one last night- obviously steel is kiss of death. I only meant "unless it was marked in such a way" the belt would be of little consequence. My bad eye sight and not looking close... but better pictures would have been needed (if it had been nickle/silver) or would have made the answer obvious.

              Hello John,

do not forget different die that usually lead specialized collectors to spot a repro like in this case.

              Best

Thank you guys for your replies.
Without doubt it is a fake buckle. Meanwhile I have received additional photos of the item, and it is made of steel.
