A strange paint on a Heer buckle

I have some doubts about this buckle.. it might be Only the paint but I have doubts about the originality of it.

The paint hides the possible signs of a casting process, the dark colour and the paint thickness is not common but I have seen some Heer alu buckles like this, but IMO the paint is not original because I have never seen the prongs and post sleeve painted in this type of buckles
